Blue Moon River

Wandering off the beaten trail,

In search of a reprieve from the mundane activities of daily life,

Is where I find

You.

The constant rumble of your water is both soothing and authoritative.

So unapologetic in the way you maneuver around obstacles,

Tackling them head-on when necessary.

The slight hint of danger is enticing,

I'm tempted to leap in,

But the idea of drowning in you is too real.

I retreat from you with admiration for everything you are,

And walk alone with a deeper understanding of myself.

As the moon glistens on us,

My heart a stone's throw away from your grasp.
