Our Space

The door swings open,

I stare at it for just a second.

Hesitant to enter,

Anxious to encounter the unknown.

That feeling fades as soon as I get in the passenger seat.

The car is parked,

But we're transported to a familiar place.

Our space.

Time is suspended,

I watch your lips closely as you speak,

Hanging on to each syllable that drips out of your mouth like morning dew,

Every drop seeping into my brain,

Nourishing an idea that lay dormant for what feels like a lifetime,

In our space we've given it a lifeline.

We just need a timeline.

Instantly,

I know that nothing is guaranteed.

As I get out of the car,

And we drift back into our own lives,

I take solace in knowing that we need our space,

In order for us to get back to our space.
