Be Brave

Maybe in another life,

We could be comfortable in this space,

And not worry about walking on eggshells,

That crack and explode like land mines,

If only we had time to figure out how we’re wired in such a way.

How certain words serve as triggers,

That set us off without warning.

And how that inhibits our ability to let people in.

Maybe then we won’t have to deal with the effects of these attacks on each other,

And we won’t have to apologize while removing the shrapnel from our minds.

We don’t need more reasons to put armor on,

We have enough layers as it is.

So we’ll be brave for each other,

Trust in this path,

And continue to walk together.

So that maybe in this life,

We can be comfortable in this space.
